Easy 5 Ingredient Apple Crisp
This Easy 5 Ingredient Apple Crisp is a perfect alternative to all the pies that may be coming to your Thanksgiving dinner and holiday celebrations. If you’re an apple-picking fan, it’s a great way to use those apples.
I know when most people think of Thanksgiving desserts, pumpkin pie is probably the star. But nothing says fall like apple pie. This Easy 5 Ingredient Apple Crisp provides a change-up from your usual pie.
Easy 5 Ingredient Apple Crisp
Let’s face it, when you get to the end of the main meal of Thanksgiving, you’re more stuffed than that turkey was at the start of the meal. So when 5-6 different pies are placed on the table for dessert round, it’s totally overwhelming.
This apple crisp provides a lighter alternative to traditional apple pie. There is no crust, so that’s one less layer. Comprised of mostly apples and oats, this high fiber dessert will help promote good digestive health – definitely important after a big Thanksgiving meal.
Crisp vs Crumble vs Cobbler
Just in case you’re curious, here’s the difference among different crumb-topped fruit desserts, here’s how they break down:
- Crisp = streusel topping made with oats
- Crumble = streusel topping made with butter, flour, sugar
- Cobbler = has a biscuit topping
Putting It All Together
This recipe can be made one of two ways. You can either combine all ingredients into one pie pan for one big crisp to spoon out, or distribute the apples and crumb topping among ramekins for individual serving sizes. The ramekin route is a nice touch if you’re having a dinner party so everyone gets their own dessert.

This apple crisp provides fiber thanks to the apples and whole whole grain oats topping, plus a dollop of Greek yogurt for added protein and calcium. Who says dessert can’t be good for you???” […]
