National Nutrition Month Kicks off Tomorrow!
March is National Nutrition Month. All month long, nutrition and fitness-focused events will be taking place promoting the theme of “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right”. Here in NJ, the NJ Dietetic Association (NJDA) has been working hard creating state-wide events focused on nutrition and fitness. And we’re looking forward to YOU joining us! Check out the upcoming events coming to NJ.
The New Jersey Dietetic Association (NJDA) invites residents of New Jersey to join us this March as we celebrate National Nutrition Month®. With a greater focus on nutrition towards prevention of chronic diseases, NJDA is hosting several events showcasing opportunities to kick-start a healthy lifestyle. National Nutrition Month® was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to occur annually in March, focusing attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
The recent release of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines puts greater attention on healthy eating through a variety of nutritious foods and mindfulness of portion sizes. Eating patterns are being supported in all settings, including home, work and school. Physical activity remains an important component for health. NJDA continues to support the recommendations put forth by the Dietary Guidelines.
Check back tomorrow and all week long for details of upcoming events in NJ and around the nation. And don’t forget March 9 is Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day! Learn more how working with an RDN can be beneficial to both you and your significant other.
