What Counts as a Plant?
Any fruit, vegetable, whole grain, nut, seed, bean, legume, herb, or spice counts! Fresh, frozen, canned or dried - all forms count! The more variety, the better. Even a sprinkle of parsley or a handful of pumpkin seeds adds to your total!
***PLEASE NOTE*** Supplements like greens powders or fruit & veggie gummies WILL NOT count towards your plant intake. The goal is to eat the real deal!
Why 30 Plants?
Research shows that eating 30 different plants each week supports a diverse gut microbiome, which is essential for digestion, immunity, and overall wellness. This challenge makes it easy by breaking it down into just 5 days.
Do I Need To Give Up Animal Protein?
NO! This challenge is not intended to be a plants-only challenge. In fact, animal proteins like meats, dairy, and eggs can actually help INCREASE our intake of plants! You'll learn best practices for pairing proteins + plants and why they make perfect partners on the plate.
Do I Need To Only Buy Organic?
NO! Organic produce is in no way superior to conventional produce. You will get the same health benefits from either. It all comes down to what fits your budget best. (True Story - as a registered dietitian, I RARELY buy organic!)
